Sumo deadlift

Deadlifts are a special compound exercise that will recruit several different muscles. The following muscles will be recruited during the deadlift, whether standard or sumo:

    • Hamstrings
    • Hips
    • Back
    • Glutes
    • Core

They are a unique barbell movement that will recruit several muscles. The difference between traditional and sumo deadlifts is which muscles are recruited. The goal is to keep the barbell close and a secure flat back during the upward pull.

The sumo deadlift is a great exercise selection. There is a difference in muscle recruitment and development from the standard traditional deadlift compared to the sumo.
